The Value of Peace of Mind

Ira Busman

I feel pretty confident that most of us yearn for a low-stress, anxiety-free, and overall positive experience when making any type of purchase, large or small. Yet today’s reality is that the "perfect" customer experience may be too far reaching for some businesses. As consumers, we’re often forced to settle for mediocrity.

Questionable Value

Think back to the last time you purchased a used car from a less than mega size dealership, a gym membership from your local neighborhood fitness center, or contracted services for your home. Regarding home services, a fitting quote to remember is "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.” As for that used car or gym membership, imagine the stress you might endure upon finding out the dealership or gym is no longer in business, and the warranty or membership previously purchased is now worthless. So even though it seemed like you were getting a “deal” at the time of purchase, that could be money right out the window.

How to Ensure Lasting Value

There are several factors to consider when the time comes to make a large purchase, and machine tools are no exception here. The following are critical to ensuring lasting value for your investment:

  • Seek a trusting relationship with the supplier
  • Consider established, reputable companies ONLY
  • Choose quality products or services

Of course, price, availability and geography are also key drivers in those decisions.

The Value of Distribution

At Okuma America, we’re extremely thankful to join forces with an excellent distribution network so we can fulfill the criteria listed above. East, West, North and South, their services span throughout the western hemisphere and combined they’ve been in business over 400 years. Our distribution has and continues to make significant investments in facilities and resources. They provide our local customers the very best products, engineered services, maintenance and PM service, turnkey capabilities, training and rebuild to mention a few.

A Proven Service Model

In recent months some builders/distributors have implemented radical changes in the way they deliver service offerings. These changes might be competitive down the road, but that’s not proven yet. It makes sense to strongly consider builders who have a longstanding commitment to their service model.

Okuma and our distribution network have a partnership that’s proven in the marketplace. Together we offer quality products through highly skilled distributors who are here for the long haul. Our years of experience and solid business infrastructure create peace of mind for our customers on a daily basis.
