Okuma’s New Connect Plan Improves Machine Utilization by Connecting Machine Tools
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 1, 2018) – Okuma America Corporation, a world leading builder of CNC machine tools, announces the debut of “Connect Plan,” a software-based system for collecting and measuring data to adjust processes for increased productivity.
Connect Plan provides analytics for improved utilization by connecting machine tools and providing visual control of factory operations and machining. The OSP control (accommodations can also be made for non-Okuma controls) connects to a PC installed with Factory Monitor suite. This enables machine operation status to be visible from the shop floor, office, smartphone, or virtually anywhere.
Connect Plan provides instant visualization of the plant anytime, anywhere. The Okuma NET BOX suite-S (Optional) plugs Connect Plan safely into the internet to show the operating status of a factory, even in remote locations. Email notification of machine alarms can be checked, and the ability to contact the Okuma Service Center to receive online support when needed is available. The Okuma NET BOX suite-C (Optional), allows older machines, and machines from other builders, to be networked.
Connect Plan achieves machining traceability by tying together the individual ID of a machined workpiece with the machining results and gaging results for each machine. If there’s a problem with a workpiece, the cause can be analyzed and higher-quality production can be reinstated with greater assurance.
Okuma's remote diagnostics allows the screen from a customer’s machine to be viewed by the Okuma Service Center when a problem occurs. This means a diagnosis can be made while looking at the same screen for accurate communication.
