Okuma’s New MB-5000HII Horizontal Machining Center Delivers Power and High-Speed Automation in a Compact Footprint

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (June 1, 2018) – Okuma America Corporation, a world leading builder of CNC machine tools, announces the debut of the redesigned MB-5000HII horizontal machining center. The new model has a footprint that is 20 percent smaller which maximizes valuable shop floor space. Powerful cutting capabilities and high-speed automation increase productivity and reduce cycle time by 25 percent.

Okuma’s new tower APC is a two-level pallet system available in multiple pallet configurations. The pallets are now interchangeable between horizontal and vertical machining centers, offering enhanced process flexibility. A 48 disc-type ATC is standard and significantly reduces tool change times compared to other models. The new ATC servo shutter design shortens tool change times while reducing waiting motions.

Built using Okuma’s Thermo-Friendly design principles, this machine compensates for thermal deformation to ensure consistent machining accuracy.
